Heart Matters

Today was a lovely sunny day. One of my favorite places around here is Loveland Castle. I had been out doing errands and felt the need to slow down and get a dose of nature. I drove over and spent some time walking around the grounds.

There were only a couple of other people there, quietly snapping photos. I sat in the sun and listened to the birds, a little perturbed at how few bird calls I could recognize. I could hear the trees rustling in the breeze and could even make out the sounds of the nearby river. The cold from the stones sank through my clothes as I sat, and my heart began to sink. I'd love to share that place with Sean, he would SO dig it. I felt chilled inside and out. I went to the car to warm up a bit but left the windows down so I could still enjoy the sounds. I txt'd Sean that I really miss him - he's been out of town working since Friday afternoon.

He phoned me a little later and we talked a bit about the castle. We both kind of laughed when I said "it's far too romantic a place to be by yourself, I had to leave", but I was still teary.

I know, I know. I'm way too mushy for my own good :)

My brother called me a few hours ago that my mom had called for an ambulance. My Dad's blood pressure was "extremely high". I don't yet know what all else was involved, just that they took him to the hospital and have been running tests on him. The good news is that they don't believe his heart was involved. Of course, nearly 2 hours passed between the first phone call and the update, so Yours Truly wore a path in the carpet in the meanwhile. And every stitch of clothing in the house has been laundered within an inch of it's life.

I kept trying to calm myself down with this line - it would really suck to have a heart attack worrying about my dad's heart!

And on a happier note - only 30 days til Valentine's Day!
