Christmas Recap
"They're NOT stockings, they're SOCKS." Oh, my darling little daughter - who is WAY too quick to correct her elders.
Christmas day, we went to service at my brother's church. He called the children forward for a children's story. Katie and a girl that just turned 1 were the only kids there. He let the girls help put the pieces in the manger scene while he talked about The Story. I was SO amazed that when he said "here are the 3 magi" that she didn't pipe up "NUH UH! Those aren't Magi, they're WISE MEN" (or wise guys, as I've called them once or twice). Phew. My heart was pounding out of its chest just at the thought!
It was a big news story - some of the larger churches in Louisville closed on Sunday. One pastor was quoted as saying "we're closing because this is a time to be with family." *blink* My brother spoke about it from the pulpit saying he could understand why families might choose to stay home on that particular day - but he didn't understand a church that would close its doors on one of the holiest days of our year. He said it more elegantly but that's about it.
I like the way my brother thinks.
Katie and I had a lovely time down at my parents' house for a few days. Santa came Saturday night after we got home from late night service, so when she woke up there was the My Little Pony that she'd been waiting 25 years for! LOL! She's 4! And a ginormous teddy bear that she said was soft and cuddly like me. *blink* LOL!
It was an incredibly lovely time, just spending time with people that are special to me. So my favorite gift of all is the one that you can't see :)
Hugs to everyone,
Sheryl
