But then again

There's a song called "Tea for One" by Kevin Gilbert. It's about a man named Duncan, who sees the lady of his dreams but is always cautious, guarding his heart. He begins walking her home, but "ever polite, he still sleeps alone at night." One day, she's not on the bus and he goes to her house, with roses in his hand, to finally make a move - and he sees her in another man's embrace... looks like Tea for One again...

It's one of those songs that sent me crumpling into tears - there are several on his album, "Thud". Between Duncan waiting too long to take a chance, and Audrey keeping her heart shut away tight I was literally sobbing the first time I heard the album all the way through.

But the song on this album that I aspire to and hope for to this day is the first "When you give your love to me". It is the happiest, bounciest, most clever use of lyrics in a love song EVER.

It starts with:

I've been thinking about this for the last 3 days
I don't think that I'm deluding myself
I don't think that this is just a phase
And I don't mean to shock you - I hope that I'm not rushing in
But I think that this is kinda important
and I don't know exactly where to begin
.
My whole life has been a constant ailment
You can provide a simple remedy
Yeah I'm gonna show some vast improvement
When you give your love to me
And you can trust that I'm a worthy recipient
And be assured I'll act responsibly
I'll treat it like a work of rare and priceless art
When you give your love to me
...

Is that not adorable?! a work of rare and priceless art.
That's it EXACTLY. The rest of the song gets better and better :)
And so will my life :) I believe it :)
